Trend: Sleeveless Jackets

Last month, on a commercial set, I noticed that the actresses dressed as fashionable waitstaff were all wearing sleeveless jackets. I pay attention to what stylists put on the talent because obviously they will be up to date on the latest trends. Sure enough, I kept seeing editorial spreads and magazine articles showcasing various armless outerwear. (Many times, they were referred to as "sleeveless vests," but aren't all vests sleeveless?)

To me, the style seemed to lose its purpose. If I'm wearing a jacket/coat, it's because I want to be warm. Why expose my arms??  But I've gotta admit...some of the looks are kind of cute.

Here are some of the ways to wear the sleeveless whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Throw it over a sleeveless shirt or tank top on those milder fall days.

Victoria Beckham sure does love the trend.

So what do you think?  Are you ready to cut the sleeves off of your favorite coat?

Getting Organized: Part 2

Time for

source

Ok, that's creepy. But you know what I'm talking about...it's time to get rid of some things.

Yes, for some of you, it will be painful.  You will have sudden anxiety about the stuff "they want to take away from you."  You will try to convince yourself you will lose the 10 pounds to fit into your jeans from college. The neon sweater you hate will start to look cuter as the possibility of having to part with it draws closer.  I feel all those things! I get it. It can be hard letting go.

Getting Organized: Part 1

I got the cutest planner!

I know a lot of people have digital calendars, but I need something physical in front of me, too. I know it's a redundant system but that's what's working for now. What do you use for your calendar?

The Favorite Eyeliner Award Goes To...

stila cosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is seriously the best. It is long lasting + NO smudges. Almost everything else smudges on my monolids! The applicator is so simple to use. Other eye liners that have awkward paint brush applicators feel so uncomfortable - and lead to sloppy lines. Stila, thank you so much for making this liner!

Adventures in Nail Art: Pyramid Scheme

I got my nails done for a shoot. Just a classic manicure in Essie's Cabi-o-lait.

Then I did Tough Mudder a couple of days later...

Yikes!

I needed to redo my nails STAT. So I got down to business by taking some cues from a Real Simple article with nail art designs.

Nut Butter Chia Cookies

I had a bag of chia seeds from Trader Joe's but really struggled with how I should eat them. I used to stick them in almond milk overnight, where they would get bloated and gelatinous.  I love boba balls so I can hang, but when you got a million of those things soaking up 9-12 times its weight in almond milk...it's a little overwhelming.

So when I found this book Chia: The Complete Guide to the Ultimate Superfood which includes all these easy recipes, I was pretty jazzed! (I've never used "jazzed" before in my life; my husband says it all the time.)

My FIRST crack at making some delicious chia treats was the Nut Butter Chia Cookies. They are sweet, yet packed with protein and fiber. I'm a very inexperienced baker (you'll see), but they came out freaking fantastic! So YOU can make them, too.
