Lucas' Papaw Ointment is made from pure Australian paw paws, which are large edible fruits believed to be a great form of medicine. Paw paws are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. This ointment also contains locally grown fermented papaya, which also has healing powers.

The reason why this product is so popular is due to its many benefits:
*People love it as a lip balm; it prevents chapping.
*Cuticle Treatment
*Treats insect bites, stings, cuts, grazes, burns and boils
* Heals dry patches at elbows and knees
Lucas' Papaw Ointment has experienced over a century of success. With so many fans, you would think this product would be available worldwide. However, Lucas' Papaw Ointment is not approved to be sold in America. You can find still find sellers of this healing salve on Amazon and other shopping sites.
A big complaint about Lucas' Papaw Ointment is that it contains petroleum jelly. A lot of consumers only see that the active ingredients are natural, but may not be aware of the presence of petroleum jelly in the ointment. Many people prefer to use products (especially for the lips) that don't include petrochemicals in the ingredients.
For an alternative, you can try Suvana Paw Paw & Honey Certified Organic Balm. It is 100% petroleum free, and it has a list of all-natural ingredients that include honey, cocoa butter, vanilla bean oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, and paw paw. 98.1% of the ingredients are also organic! Reviewers noted that this had a better scent than Lucas' Papaw Ointment; the Suvana Balm has a sweet cocoa and honey fragrance. This is also sold on Amazon and by other online sellers such as Spirit Beauty Lounge.
I can't wait to get my hands on these balms and do a review on both the Lucas' Papaw Ointment and Suvana Paw Paw & Honey Certified Organic Balm. It would be nice for the Suvana one to be just as effective as the Lucas' Papaw Ointment. For me, it's a bummer to think about all the petrochemicals we inadvertently ingest when using lip products! I did read that since the Suvana ointment doesn't have petroleum jelly in it, one does have to get used to a less "moisturizing" feeling if going from the Lucas' Papaw Ointment. I will let you know!
PS. If you are using either of these balms, don't forget to wear another product that contains SPF along with it because neither of these salves provide sun protection.
