Sandwiches Are Underrated

My friend Robie and I met up today to rehearse a scene.  We had just finished a Flywheel class together, and I was starving.  However, I was really craving some Chicken McNuggets...but they weren't serving lunch just yet.  So I wanted to time it just right.  Rehearsal and THEN McDonald's. Awww, yeah!

But when we got to Robie's apartment, the ever consummate host made me a brilliant sandwich!

Such simple ingredients coming together for an exciting palate party:  Turkey breast, sprouts, egg, chili flakes, Mediterranean feta, and honey mustard.

About Last Weekend

We had a lot of fun shooting a sketch for We Stand Comedy.  Such a lovely group of people.  Here are Tara and Kimberly. I had worked with Kim before on another funny project, and it was a blast being reunited.

I'm holding a bottle of our product "Ouistan" perfume.

Let the contouring begin!

I had to keep cropping Kim's chest out.  She wasn't topless, but because she needs to look topless, she had on a low nude/sometimes wet strapless bra. Why does she need to look topless, you ask?  It will all make sense when you see the sketch. (Ok, there's a shower scene.)

Yup.

My Sample Sale Experience in New York: Rebecca Minkoff

I always imagined sample sales in NY to be like this:

And like this...
source

But it was relatively calm at the 260 5th Avenue location of the Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale.  Yes, there was a bevy of females with bags upon bags draped all over their bodies.  Many of them having animated discussions on their phones, fulfilling their duties to shop for their girlfriends who couldn't make it to the sale.  No cat fights!  Some woman actually saw my bag and asked me if I wanted a similar one she found in the clearance pile. I was impressed.

Trend: Sleeveless Jackets

Last month, on a commercial set, I noticed that the actresses dressed as fashionable waitstaff were all wearing sleeveless jackets. I pay attention to what stylists put on the talent because obviously they will be up to date on the latest trends. Sure enough, I kept seeing editorial spreads and magazine articles showcasing various armless outerwear. (Many times, they were referred to as "sleeveless vests," but aren't all vests sleeveless?)

To me, the style seemed to lose its purpose. If I'm wearing a jacket/coat, it's because I want to be warm. Why expose my arms??  But I've gotta admit...some of the looks are kind of cute.

Here are some of the ways to wear the sleeveless whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Throw it over a sleeveless shirt or tank top on those milder fall days.

So what do you think?  Are you ready to cut the sleeves off of your favorite coat?

Getting Organized: Part 2

Time for

source

Ok, that's creepy. But you know what I'm talking about...it's time to get rid of some things.

Yes, for some of you, it will be painful.  You will have sudden anxiety about the stuff "they want to take away from you."  You will try to convince yourself you will lose the 10 pounds to fit into your jeans from college. The neon sweater you hate will start to look cuter as the possibility of having to part with it draws closer.  I feel all those things! I get it. It can be hard letting go.

Getting Organized: Part 1

I got the cutest planner!

I know a lot of people have digital calendars, but I need something physical in front of me, too. I know it's a redundant system but that's what's working for now. What do you use for your calendar?

The Favorite Eyeliner Award Goes To...

stila cosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is seriously the best. It is long lasting + NO smudges. Almost everything else smudges on my monolids! The applicator is so simple to use. Other eye liners that have awkward paint brush applicators feel so uncomfortable - and lead to sloppy lines. Stila, thank you so much for making this liner!

Adventures in Nail Art: Pyramid Scheme

I got my nails done for a shoot. Just a classic manicure in Essie's Cabi-o-lait.

Then I did Tough Mudder a couple of days later...

Yikes!

I needed to redo my nails STAT. So I got down to business by taking some cues from a Real Simple article with nail art designs.

Nut Butter Chia Cookies

I had a bag of chia seeds from Trader Joe's but really struggled with how I should eat them. I used to stick them in almond milk overnight, where they would get bloated and gelatinous.  I love boba balls so I can hang, but when you got a million of those things soaking up 9-12 times its weight in almond milk...it's a little overwhelming.

So when I found this book Chia: The Complete Guide to the Ultimate Superfood which includes all these easy recipes, I was pretty jazzed! (I've never used "jazzed" before in my life; my husband says it all the time.)

My FIRST crack at making some delicious chia treats was the Nut Butter Chia Cookies. They are sweet, yet packed with protein and fiber. I'm a very inexperienced baker (you'll see), but they came out freaking fantastic! So YOU can make them, too.

Las Vegas: #MyCosmoStyle

Vegas.com recently got in touch with me regarding a fun little blogger style challenge.  The question: What would I wear during a day at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas?

First, I'm always thinking about food so I would hit up Jaleo for some tapas. Don't forget the sangria!  If you're a brunch/buffet type of person, the Cosmopolitan offers up the traditional Vegas buffet experience with an added touch of elegance at Wicked Spoon.

Why not start the day with a bit of glam?  No need to question a bra top for brunch. It's Vegas.

After the food coma nap, it's time for a little exercise at the Marquee Dayclub.  Of course, swimming is optional.  People-watching is a must at this pool and bar area spanning 22,000 square feet.

In my fantasy day by the pool, I would be all about the accessories.  And in my fantasy, sunblock and getting in the pool have no effect on this ensemble!

Writing this entry really makes me miss going to Vegas.  When I used to live in LA, it was an easy trip to make. I remember my girlfriends and I planning out our outfits for those Vegas outings!  Fashion was definitely part of the experience.

Did you have a favorite #MyCosmoStyle outfit?  What do you typically wear in Las Vegas?

And don't forget to check out the Cosmopolitan on your next trip to Vegas.  More information about the hotel here!
