Highlights at the 2014 Golden Globes

Not only was Jennifer Lawrence a winner at the Golden Globes (Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture), she made a lot of Best Dressed lists with her "stunning Dior gown." However, I didn't think the bottom black strap really did much for the dress. Not a horrible dress. Just disappointing because you know so many people were looking forward to see what this "girl on fire" was going to be wearing.

Various websites commented on how unusual the dress was...I didn't think it was cutting edge fashion. It looks like just another belt was added. Under the butt. A scary place to cinch a dress with a strap. What do you think?

I know some people are sick and tired of her, but I can't get over how cute Jennifer is.  Here is her manic and endearing acceptance speech from last night.

Besides Lawrence, many other actresses opted for the black and white color scheme.
Laura Carmichael, Hayden Panettiere, Julia Roberts, Zosia Mamet

Is it just me or are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler looking better with age?  I'm not a fan of Tina's dress here.  That pattern always makes me think of those awful Bed-in-a-Bag comforters. I think as a shirt or a skirt would have been fine, but seeing so much of the pattern on the entire gown is not appealing. Having said that, Tina Fey still looked GOOD!

Gorgeous!

Something that was a bold choice for the Red Carpet was Emma Watson's pants-under-dress Dior ensemble. Business in the front, party in the back!  Do you like it?

Another fun crimson choice was super talented Lupita Nyong'o's Ralph Lauren caped gown.  She topped many Best Dressed lists.  I thought it was such a beautiful color on her.  Opinions on the cape?

Cate Blanchett displayed exquisite elegance in this lacy Armani Prive dress. It's easy to see why she was chosen to play such a refined mess of a woman in Blue Jasmine.  I'm thrilled she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture.

Another black gown that caught my eye was Sofia Vergara's VERY BIG dress.  It's a very classic look, but that's some serious wedding cake topper status. I wonder what the diameter of bottom of the gown is. I love the BEAUTIFUL necklace that brings a little OOMPH to the outfit.

What did you think were the fashion hits and misses at the Golden Globes?
